Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 5 0 Lollipop Update Started

Image
Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Started After starting out in Poland last month and hitting a few other countries afterward, the Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now reaching some more Europeans. The Galaxy S5’s update to Android 5.0 is now rolling out to users in the United Kingdom. The update bumps the phone up to Android 5.0, not 5.0.2, and brings with it goodies like Material Design touches, redesigned core apps, lock screen and heads-up notifications, the ART runtime, and more. While the Galaxy S5 on Android 5.0 is definitely still TouchWiz-y, there are some Material Design touches that should help to make it feel like a substantial update. There’s still no word on when Lollipop might begin making its way to U.S.-based S5 owners, but now that the update has been rolling out to international users for a month and a half now, here’s to hoping that it’s already in the hands of U.S. carriers and in the midst of testing.

Now that Google has finally revealed that  Lollipop is the name of its Android L release , you probably saw this coming. The new OS version has received its very own statue outside of Google’s HQ in California. This is customary for all new Android iterations, and there are already a lot of sweet statues hanging out on Google’s lawn. As you can see, the Lollipop statue is basically just the green Android robot mascot holding a giant lollipop. This marks a subtle change from previous statues, which all turned the robot itself into the specific confectionery item that any new Android version was named after. The video above shows the unveiling of the new statue, as it happened earlier today. Android 5.0 Lollipop will be preinstalled on the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, and it will be out as a software update for the older Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (both generations), and Nexus 10 at some point in the near future. Obviously the new bits will then start to slowly make their w...

Android 5 0 Lollipop the new features

Image
Its been less than a year since the last major Android version was announced, under the inconspicuous name KitKat, and the for the first time then Google partnered with a confectionery giant, of all things, for the marketing purposes. Today marked the arrival of the Android 4.4 KitKats successor, dubbed Android Lollipop. Thats right, regardless of the associations that come to mind when one hears the new naming scheme, Lollipop might be considered as one of the most visibly significant updates in Androids history. First off, we get a thoroughly revamped interface with the fashionable "flat", but colorful demeanor that many Android manufacturers, like Samsung and LG, adopted for their respective TouchWiz and Optimus overlays. In addition, Google finally overhauled the aging notification system, which looked pale and barren in stock Android, when compared to Samsungs, LGs, or third party efforts you can find in the Play Store. The multitasking options also got a boost with a Go...
