The Anki Drive game first demonstrated during Apples WWDC keynote address in June isnow available exclusively on the Apple Online Store and at Apples retail outlets, in line with last weeks announcement. The game, described by Anki as a "video game in the real world", is somewhat similar to slot car racing, but uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and iPhone-based controls. Following the footsteps of the Google Nexus 7, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S got their own treatment of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The 15.1MB update is currently seeding to GSM/HSPA versions of both smartphones over the air. The update is a minor improvement over its predecessor. It includes the usual performance and stability fixes. Landscape mode however, will remain reserved for the Google Nexus 7.

A jailbreak tool has been released for iOS 8 just over a month after Apple’s latest OS was first officially launched. The new software comes courtesy of Chinese tinkerers Team Pangu, and is the first jailbreak for the iOS 8 . The jailbreak gives anyone with the latest iOS software root admin access to their smartphone, circumcenting Apple’s standard user restrictions. Pangu says its jailbreak will work fine on both iOS 8 and the newly released iOS 8.1 update. The jailbreaker team also recommends backing up your device before you take the root access leap, just in case something goes wrong and causes data loss. Many users are complaining that the jailbreak has come too early, since Cydia software and English language are not currently available. During its big event today, Apple announced a lot of new things as you may already know – the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch. But besides all of that, the company also shared a big stat relating to its iTunes App Store. This, it turns out, now has more than 1.3 million apps for iOS in it. Last we heard anything about Apple’s app numbers, the 1 million milestone was hit – in October of last year. Thus, it’s probably safe to say that growth in app numbers for the iOS store is slowing down, but at this level that’s to be expected. Let’s wait and see when the 1.5 million number will be reached.

Sony’s first smartwatch to run Android Wear,  the SmartWatch 3 , is finally up for pre-order – yet just at Verizon of all places. It’s  already been listed in the Play Store , but you’ll only be able to get it from there at some (still unannounced) later point. The wearable is priced at $249.99 over at Verizon’s online store, and it’s due to start shipping by October 30. The Sony SmartWatch 3 is the first Android Wear device to feature a built-in GPS sensor. Otherwise, it’s a pretty similar package to the smartwatches we’ve already seen from Sony’s competitors this year. News has surfaced that supplies of the iPhone 5s are considerably lower than past releases. Carriers and Apple stores alike have both reported that there will be fewer phones available than usual. AllThingsD has reported that its sources at carrier level have expressed concerns over phones supplies, with one even going as far to say , “We will have grotesquely unavailable inventory.” According to another report, 70-80 percent of iPhones in stock at Apple stores on Friday will be the iPhone 5C, whilst the silver and gold models of the 5S will be very difficult to come by.
