Image
The world is going selfie mad so its about time Samsung joined the craze - and the Galaxy Grand Prime is seemingly the phone its going to use to do it. The selfie -centric phone was leaked by Vietnamese site thegioididong.com, which both posted pictures and revealed some apparent specs. Those include a 5.0-inch 540 x 960 display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy Grand Prime apparently runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is said to be equipped with an 8MP main camera which can record video in 1080p, but the star of the show is the 5MP front-facing camera, leaving it better equipped for selfies than most mid-range phones. Cheap shots Rounding out the specs theres apparently 8GB of built in storage, a microSD card slot and a 2600 mAh battery. According to the source it will arrive in Vietnam in October with a price of less than 5 million VND (£146 / $236 / AU$262). International LG G2 won’t be getting Android KitKat this month

Image
It turns out that the international version of the LG G2 might not be getting an update to Android 4.4 KitKat this month. In a new tweet, LG Mobile Saudi Arabia apologized for releasing wrong information earlier today. We apologize for the previous wrong tweet regarding G2 Kit Kat upgrade schedule, the date was for upgrading the KnockOn feature to Lii series — LG Mobile Saudi (@LGMobileSaudi) January 15, 2014 Instead of Android 4.4 KitKat for the company’s smartphone flagship, LG Mobile Saudi Arabia announced that the popular Knock feature will make its way to the second generation of L Series smartphones. This is hardly a surprise as LG officially announced the upcoming feature late last month. All in all, users of the international LG G2 will probably have to be a tad more patient before they get the KitKat treatment. In the meantime, this walkthrough video of Android 4.4 on LG G2 should give them a taste of what’s coming.

Lenovo to finalize IBM low end server acquisition this week

Image
We first got wind of Lenovo’s bid for IBMs low-end server division early this year, when the China-based company and the tech giant agreed to a $2.3 billion deal for IBM’s x86 server division. Today,  Reuters  reports that the deal is set to finalize on October 1, although at a slightly lower valuation of $2.1 billion. Lenovo claims that the final purchasing price is lower than that announced at the beginning of the year due to a change in the valuation of inventory and deferred revenue liability. Back in January, it was estimated that the deal would boost Lenovo share to roughly 14% of the global server business, a huge jump from its current 2% share and a major asset for China’s largest PC manufacturer as it looks to target business clients. This is expected to be the second large computing deal between Lenovo and IBM. The first was back in 2005 when Lenovo acquired IBMs PC division, including the ThinkPad and ideaPad series.

This could be Nokias answer to ipod shuffle

Image
Once again @evleaks gives us some interesting news. And this time its about Nokia . The picture (above) shows a basic audio device that, he says, is similar to Apples entry-level music player, except that it has NFC to allow easy pairing to either a smartphone or to other speakers and headphones. Theres also a micro USB charging and/or sync port, as well as some very simple controls, although we cant see if there are any buttons on the far side. As to whether this thing -- which may be called the "Guru" -- is just another Bluetooth receiver and DAC for headsets (like Nokias existing BH-221), or whether it has local storage and other features of its own, well probably find out in Nokias event.
