Samsung hints at 64 bit processors for the S5 and Note 4

  S amsung’s 2014 flagship smartphones will launch with 64-bit processors, according to reports coming out of Asia. The report did not specifically name the phones, but it is widely believed to refer to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. In addition to 64-bit processors, the phones are also expected to ship with WQHD (2,560 by 1,440 pixel resolution) displays. The report also mentioned a 16 megapixel camera. On Wednesday, Samsung confirmed that it working on 64-bit processors for smartphones. Unlike most Android smartphone makers, the company makes its own chips. It also manufacturers the chips that power Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Stephen Woo, president of Systems SI at Samsung electronics told CNET that the company is taking a “two-step approach” to developing 64-bit chips.
