Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Started
After starting out in Poland last month and hitting a few other countries afterward, the Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now reaching some more Europeans.
The Galaxy S5’s update to Android 5.0 is now rolling out to users in the United Kingdom. The update bumps the phone up to Android 5.0, not 5.0.2, and brings with it goodies like Material Design touches, redesigned core apps, lock screen and heads-up notifications, the ART runtime, and more.
While the Galaxy S5 on Android 5.0 is definitely still TouchWiz-y, there are some Material Design touches that should help to make it feel like a substantial update. There’s still no word on when Lollipop might begin making its way to U.S.-based S5 owners, but now that the update has been rolling out to international users for a month and a half now, here’s to hoping that it’s already in the hands of U.S. carriers and in the midst of testing.
