National Geographic Photographer Praises iPhone 5s Camera

Image
National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson took his iPhone 5s to Scotland and, after taking 4,000 photographs, called the camera on the device "very capable" with pictures that "didn’t look like I was having to settle for second best because it was a mobile phone". Apples Phil Schiller tweeted a link to the article this evening, commenting "iPhoneography". With intense use (I’ve made about 4,000 pictures in the last four days) I’ve discovered that the iPhone 5S is a very capable camera. The color and exposures are amazingly good, the HDR exposure feature does a stunningly good job in touch situations, the panorama feature is nothing short of amazing—seeing a panorama sweeping across the screen in real time is just intoxicating. Best of all it shoots square pictures natively, a real plus for me since I wanted to shoot for Instagram posting. Once I figured out what the camera could do well I began to forget all the things it couldn’t do at all. While the...

Apple could sell up to 8M iPhone 5s and 5c units over launch weekend analyst says

Image
While many market watchers are concerned that Apple has not announced preorder numbers for the iPhone 5c and may face supply constraints with the iPhone 5s, one analyst believes launch weekend sales will blow past last years record setting iPhone 5 performance. According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apples silence may simply be a strategy to conceal the exact iPhone 5s and 5c sales breakdown from competitors, and does not necessarily mean preorders for the plastic shelled device are weak. In fact, Kuo said in a note to investors on Wednesday that Apple will likely ship 6 to 8 million new iPhones over the devices first weekend of sales. By comparison, Apple racked up 5 million sales when the iPhone 5 debuted last year. Earlier in the day, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster forecast 5 to 6 million unit sales, a more conservative number based on the prior models in-store launch sales. Kuo believes Apple wont show its hand until the launch weekend is over, combining total iPhone 5s and 5c ...

Inside Apples A7 Chip M7 Motion Coprocessor and More from the iPhone 5s

Image
At its media event introducing the new iPhones earlier this month, Apple highlighted several chip innovations included on the iPhone 5s including a new A7 main chip with one billion transistors and a smaller M7 "motion coprocessor" designed to efficiently measure accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass data and thus allow for enhanced fitness tracking , navigation, and more. Chipworks and iFixit have now posted a teardown revealing whats inside these chips, as well as several other components of the iPhone 5s, offering an interesting first glimpse at these components at the heart of the device. In looking at the A7, Chipworks noted that it is indeed manufactured by Samsung using its 28-nm process node. Apple has been seeking to shift its A-series chip production from Samsung to TSMC, but TSMCs chip production will reportedly not start until early 2014. Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Apple iPhone 5s review – All About Phones

By Dominick Viëtor , Tuesday, June 3, 2014 13:54 | 0 comments The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the new flagship of Samsung and takes it logically include up against the Apple iPhone 5s, the flagship smartphone from Apple. In this video we compare the two. The flagships of Apple and Samsung are traditionally the best selling models in the market and thus two main rivals. With the Samsung Galaxy S5 has recently put a new top model in the market. The smartphone is equipped with a waterproof body, a Snapdragon processor 801 and a 16-megpaixelcamera. The iPhone is less paper, but in practice the difference is not so bad. The dual-core A7 processor 64bit cores and is thus well near Samsung’s quad-core Snapdragon chip 801. The 8-megapixel camera is not wrong and the smaller screen size, the lower resolution is not such a big issue. It is striking that both devices have a fingerprint scanner, which is supplemented by Samsung with a heart rate monitor.

IPhone 5s Stocks Said To Be Low Get In The Queue Now If You Want One

Image
News has surfaced that supplies of the iPhone 5s are considerably lower than past releases. Carriers and Apple stores alike have both reported that there will be fewer phones available than usual. AllThingsD has reported that its sources at carrier level have expressed concerns over phones supplies, with one even going as far to say , “We will have grotesquely unavailable inventory.” According to another report, 70-80 percent of iPhones in stock at Apple stores on Friday will be the iPhone 5C, whilst the silver and gold models of the 5S will be very difficult to come by. The cause of this shortage has not been commented on officially but with Apple releasing two new handsets at once, as well as the impending release of iOS7, it’s not really surprising that there could be less iPhones to go around. Another expantion could be that Apple is just saving the bulk of the iPhones for itself, getting more customers to go directly to them when the handset becomes unavailable ...
