Can the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 0 4 read a USB stick – Tablet Guide

I would like to move the photos on my USB stick to my Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 4. I already bought female usb. A cable with micro-USB /
Now it was unable to connect my wireless mouse to the tablet, I wonder whether it manages to transfer the images from the USB stick.
I’ve read something about a usb host that my tablet is probably not (?).
And is there a usb host app that I can download, and if so, which?
