CODE YOUR OWN FLAPPY GAME - A TUTORIAL FOR ALL AGES
Flappy Bird recently met its untimely death. We might’ve been tempted to cry all day and give up on spreading computer science (not really, but R.I.P Flappy Bird).
But we just crossed two huge milestones today: On our one-year anniversary, we hit 1 billion lines of code written by students on Code.org!

So instead, we built a new drag-and-drop tutorial that lets you build your own Flappy game – whether it’s Flappy Bird, or Flappy Easter Bunny, Flappy Santa, Flappy Shark with Lasers, Flappy Fairy or Flappy Underwater Unicorn.

Flappy Bird is a simple game, and using the basics of computer science, any student can create their own version with endless possibilities. You can make your own rules, and make your flappy game as easy or as hard as you want. You can even reverse the scoring or make it change randomly as you play.

The best part is you can share it with one click to challenge your friends. They can play your game on any computer or phone, even right inside Facebook or Twitter.
Try it out: create and share your own Flappy Bird game.
1 billion lines of code in under 3 months
Since we launched the Hour of Code and its follow-up course in December, over 27 million users, in 34 languages, across 170 countries together wrote one billion lines of code in our tutorials.

Celebrating Code.org’s one-year anniversary
Exactly one year ago today, Code.org launched a video that tipped 11 million views and inspired students worldwide to try computer science. It also inspired me to turn my personal hobby into a staffed organization working to give every student in every school the opportunity to learn computer science.
